some like to turn the issue of global warming and climate consciousness into a political
debate: right-wingers are gas-guzzling capitalists and left-wingers are tree-hugging
Prius-drivers. we believe that it does not matter which wing you are on because
we are all flying on the same bird. it is everyone's responsibility to protect and
nurture it.
as a company, [me] & goji strives to be not just sustainable, but restorative.
eliminating our carbon footprint is not enough; sustainability is a parabolic process
and as a business we must accept culpability for not just our employees, but humans
as a race. we don't want to be invisible; we want to be an active force in creating
solutions for environmental problems. as we grow, so will our dedication to sustainability
and our radius for change.
green tags and carbon offsets...a solution?
green tags and carbon offsets are financial instruments in the fight against global
warming that are purchased from third parties as a way of counteracting the greenhouse
gasses that a company or consumer emits. essentially, you pay someone to follow
you around with a huge swiffer and wipe away your footprints. critics label this
an easy way to buy a clean conscious and give those who can afford it an excuse
to continue damaging the environment.
we, admittedly, straddle the fence. it is certainly not the end solution to global
warming, but we do think purchasing green tags and carbon offsets has a positive
effect when coupled with a dedication to improving processes that minimize emissions
while technologies advance and better options become available. (if you think you
are doing your part by throwing down for a few green tags while your hummer barrels
down I-95, you're living in candyland...and you're probably helping to melt it.)
at checkout, we offer a green tag for one dollar to offset all the CO2 emissions
from the creation and shipping of your cereal. of that $1, we contribute 100% to
the Bonneville Environmental Foundation who invest it in quality-screened renewable
energy projects.
